Even though we have been a little bit quiet over the past few weeks, we are ready for and very excited about feast 11: Babaroots.
As soon as we met with the lovely Tammy Craigie Stevenson, our connection to Babroots was a very positive one. The Farm has expanded from growing mainly Basil and Rocket to a substantial range of herbs, a small range of specialized vegetables and salad leaves.
They are part of the vision of pioneering a new approach to growing food sustainably and in harmony with nature so that South Africa’s farms will be able to provide enough food for future generations, without compromising quality or adding to the cost. It is called Farming for the future.
The natural veld was previously used for grazing by the previous owner, but is currently being converted back to natural veld as part of their overall company philosophy of sustainability and conservation of the Moot Plains bushveld vegetation. Babaroots is committed to the sustainable use of the earth’s resources by maximising yields and applying environmentally friendly technology.
