During our many journeys in search of interesting farms and special produce, we have had the pleasure of meeting some very interesting people. It turns out that two of our regular and favourite feast goers, Leoni and Denzel Pearce, the owners of Kazi Farm are two of the coolest we have met thus far! We are overjoyed that we get to host our first feast for 2014 on their very special farm – Thanks you guys!! Nestled in the ancient folds of The Cradle of Humankind lies their small boutique family farm called Kazi Farm that exclusively produces garnishing greens. Like the buttons or trim on a beautifully tailored Chanel jacket, Kazi Farm’s culinary herbs, edible flowers, micro and baby-leafed salad greens add the “voila!” factor to many a top chef’s plate before it goes out to restaurant patrons. Well known and trusted for their naturally grown and freshly picked salad greens and abundance of bright salad flowers, the name Kazi has become synonymous with fine dining in the greater Johannesburg and Pretoria area. After all, good chefs and caterers know that no matter how much effort has gone into creating and serving a mouthwatering meal, presentation can either kill it or crown it…kamikaze it or Kazi it! Kazi farm is quite a drive away, but well worth it! We are also very excited to welcome visiting chef Hennie Fisher for the day and cannot wait to see what he does with the amazing produce from this farm.
